Specialists whose hospital is participating in the CPSO Quality Improvement Partnership Program may receive CPD credits through the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program: A Professional Development Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- How many CPD credits will I receive?
Completion of Quality Improvement Tools
Physicians who are part of the QI Partnership program also complete two tools -- the Practice Profile and Self-Guided Chart Review -- to meet College requirements.
Physicians who receive feedback from a peer
- Practice Profile: You are eligible to submit your hours under Section 3: Feedback and improvement/Feedback received (3 credits per hour).
- Self-guided Chart Review: You are eligible to submit your hours under Section 3: Feedback and improvement/Feedback received (3 credits per hour).
Reporting can be claimed on the learning that has occurred on the time spent receiving, reviewing and reflecting on the feedback.
If you do not receive feedback from a peer, you are eligible to submit your hours for each of the Quality Improvement Tools of the QI program under Section 2: Individual Learning: Activity preparation (previously Personal Learning Project) for 2 credits per hour.
Completion of Quality Improvement Process
After completing the components of the QI process (Data/Measurement; Reflection; Facilitated Feedback; and the Action Plan/ Proposal), the number of credits you are eligible for will depend on the type of QI initiative that you participated in as outlined in the table below. These hours can be claimed under Section 3: Feedback and Improvement/Improvement initiatives.
Reporting can be claimed on the learning that has occurred on the time spent receiving, reviewing and reflecting on the feedback.
Additional CPD as a result of the Action Plan, any next steps (research, addressing an issue etc.) can be claimed under Section 2: Activity Preparation (formerly known as Personal Learning Project) (2 credits per hour).
- Can my peers who are providing feedback claim CPD credits?
Yes! Physicians providing feedback can report this in Section 3: Feedback delivered (3 credits per hour to a maximum of 15 credits per year.

The College of Family Physicians of Canada
Family physicians whose hospital is participating in the CPSO Quality Improvement Partnership Program may claim CPD credits through Mainpro+®: Continuing Professional Development Program of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
- How many CPD credits will I receive?
- Completion of Quality Improvement Tools
CPSO members who participate in the QI Program may be eligible to claim up to twelve Mainpro+ certified credits via the Practice Audit/Quality Assurance form. You may fill out one form for each tool you complete (Practice Profile, Self-Guided Chart Review).
To do so, please log in to your Mainpro+ account, click “Enter a CPD Activity” and follow these steps:
- Select Assessment Category
- Click Certified
- Select Practice Audit/Quality Assurance Programs from the list
- Answer all the questions on the form
- Click submit
Potential total number of credits for this part of the program: 12 Mainpro+ certified credits (based on the completion of one Practice Audit/Quality Assurance form for each of the two tools).
- Completion of the Data/ Measurement Component
If relevant, for completion of the Data/ Measurement Component, members can claim non-certified credits for the time spent on data/measurement. In addition, they may be eligible to claim Mainpro+ certified credits by documenting their learning using a Linking Learning to Assessment exercise or Linking Learning to Administration exercise. For completion of the Reflection Component, members can claim non-certified credits for the time spent on individual or group reflection. In addition, they may be eligible to claim Mainpro+ certified credits by documenting their learning using a Linking Learning to Administration exercise or Linking Learning to Practice exercise. - Completion of the Facilitated Feedback Component
For completion of the Facilitated Feedback Component, members can claim non-certified credits for the time spent on individual or group reflection. In addition, they may be eligible to claim Mainpro+ certified credits by documenting their learning using a Linking Learning to Administration or Linking Learning to Practice exercise. - Completion of Action Plan/ Proposal
For completion of the Action Plan/ Proposal, Chief of Staff or delegate can claim non-certified credits for the time spent developing an action plan/ proposal. In addition, they may be eligible to claim Mainpro+ certified credits by documenting their learning using a Linking Learning to Administration or Linking Learning to Practice exercise.
